Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal method for excess or undesired hair growth. Use on the rest of the body and to remove facial hair is safe. A skilled electrologist uses an electric current to remove the hair throughout your sessions. Both the surgery and its aftereffects are painless. A method of hair removal is electrolysis. A small wire is inserted by a qualified electrologist into the skin’s surface-level hair follicle. The hair root is destroyed by an electric current that travels down the wire and out of the follicle. Damage to the follicles inhibits new hair from forming and leads to shedding of the old hair.

About a century has passed since the invention of electrolysis. It was initially created to get rid of irritating ingrown eyelash hairs. The only permanent hair removal procedure that has received FDA approval is electrolysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does electrolysis work?

The simple answer is that the electrologist slides a special probe along the hair’s route and into the follicle. Electric current is applied that creates heat and chemical reactions to destroy the follicles capacity to produce another hair.

2. Does it hurt when the probe is inserted?

No. There is some discomfort when the electric current is applied.

3. What should my skin look like after a treatment?

You are likely to notice some slight redness or pink and perhaps some swelling or slight welting. This is normal. A cold compress applied for 10-15 minutes immediately following a treatment will help reduce the irritation.

4. How many treatments will I need?

Generally, areas can be cleared in 6 months to a year, if the client is dedicated to completing regular treatments. Because there are three different growing cycles, some hair remains hidden at any given time, and it may take several months to a year to completely clear an area. The number of total treatments will vary from area to area and person to person.
